Short, sweet Review: Wolf of Wall Street

Scorsese once again shows his dyslexia at sustaining audience interest over several hours and had little hope for doing so with this – what felt like a series of random (but quite funny and well done) sketches and long (but rather engaging) speeches that loosely tie to a pretty standard-order financial saga that doesn’t feel too different to the likes of “Wall Street” and isn’t as riveting or well-developed. Strong performances do elevate the project particularly from a career-best Leonardo and a memorable (particularly for men) debut from Aussie Margot Robbie but not enough to save a film after which you almost have to look for the good things to say about it rather than having them jump out at you. Still worth an investment but not very high returns.
